The 19th edition of Em’s Day was certainly the warmest with temperatures in the afternoon hovering around 30 degrees centigrade. We were very pleased with the turnout, especially given the very high temperatures and the fact that the Avro Lancaster couldn’t display due to the extreme heat.
The UK Buell Enthusiasts Group has held its main event at the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre (LAHC) for the past 21 years and during that time it has had all sorts of weather thrown at it. At this year’s event it was nice to meet lots of people from the Buell scene, many of whom we’d not seen for quite a few years.
As always, we would like to thank LAHC for granting us permission to hold the event. After a very difficult period due to Covid-19 restrictions in 2020 and 2021 it is great to see things getting back to normal this year with a full program of events at East Kirkby.
Thank you to all who attended and put on a terrific display, especially the Buell/EBR riders with 39 machines present. A special mention goes to Ron and Dimitri plus their partners who came over from the Netherlands for the event on their Ulysses and Thunderbolt models.
There was a total of 134 motorcycles at the event, including a good selection of Ducatis, Laverdas and Moto Guzzis plus some rarer examples like Motobi and Morini.
We had expected approximately 10 Vincents at the event but the heat put many of the riders off attending. At least Les made it on his 1000cc V-twin and Ben came in a car to represent the Vincent Owners Club. Hopefully next year’s event will see cooler temperatures and there’ll be a few more of these venerable British machines.
Thanks to the following for bringing display machines:
Paul and Carol Klatkiewicz, Ducati.
Brian and Tracey, Buell XBRR.
Graham and
Sue Hemshall, Moto Guzzi Singles.
We would like to thank Kev Meanwell for his help and support on the day. Also, thanks to Derek Weldon and Alan Keill for their help with publicity for the event.
And finally, thanks to Jane for being on the gate all day.
Em’s Day 2022 raised a total of £1,422.00. Split £942.00 for LAHC and £480.00* for Emma’s Charity. See payment advice below and Emma's Charity
* With the addition of Gift Aid this value is increased to £600.00.
The main theme of this year’s event was to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Buell XB platform. Having Brian and Tracey’s rare Buell XBRR at Em’s Day was a real treat. We spent the whole weekend in Lincolnshire, so we were able to see and hear their XBRR on the track at Cadwell Park circuit the following day. See two short video clips below.
